Managing the unmanageable: reinstating the dingo for pastoral sustainability in Australian rangelands

The predominant grazing management system used in the arid rangelands regions of Australia, set stocking, is not conducive to sustainable land management. More appropriate systems based upon periodic rest periods for important pasture species have been adopted by pastoralists because unmanaged pressure from animals such as goats and kangaroos has too high. Dingoes are only cost-effective long-term solution effect kangaroos. Yet government funding targets dingo eradication pastoral areas, it does so adopting misleading scientifically inaccurate terms describing dingoes.
